Where is it?

Lying to the east of Marbella Town itself, but still within the town's municipal area, the region of East Marbella incorporates the popular districts of Rio Real/Torre Real, Los Monteros, Altos de Los Monteros, El Rosario, Las Chapas, Elviria and Cabopino.

The marina of Cabopino lies at the area's eastern-most point and is located approximately 15 kilometres from the centre of Marbella Town and a 30 minute drive from Malaga International Airport.

Our Opinion

East Marbella offers fabulous sandy beaches (arguably the best on the Costa del Sol), in addition to pristine golf courses, amongst them Rio Real (the oldest in the area), Santa Clara, Marbella Golf, Santa Maria and Cabopino.

The proximity to Marbella Town means that there is a thriving permanent expat community, several good international schools, as well as an abundance of well-maintained holiday homes.

The thriving commercial centre in Elviria offers a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants, while the quieter centre in El Rosario also has a similar selection. The marina of Cabopino is often bypassed by tourists, but is adored by those that have stumbled upon it.

Top Tips!

  • Fancy salsa on the beach? – try Ranchon Cubano, where there´s always a party atmosphere and free-flowing drinks.
  • Head to the hills – if you like a stunning view in the heart of nature, take the Elviria exit and wind up the hill to La Mairena. There are a few surprises at the top, including a golf course, tennis club and wine bar. But it's really all about those views!
  • Relax on the beach – East Marbella is home to some of the Costa del Sol's very best sandy beaches. The very best can be found in Elviria, Las Chapas and Cabopino, also home to a fabulous marina.
  • Indulge at Nikki Beach – located next to the Don Carlos Hotel, Nikki Beach offers food, drink, pool, beach, massage and entertainment… at a price of course!
